Coating additives, also known as paint accessories, are auxiliary materials for formulating coatings, which can improve coating properties and promote the formation of coating films.
Coating additives are those ingredients that are added to coating formulations in small amounts to control or enhance coating performance. There are about 40 different types of coating additives (emulsifiers, dispersants, defoamers, thickeners, anti-crater agents, drying accelerators, bactericides, etc.), and additives with different chemical components . Generally, the formulation of the coating will contain a variety of additives. In general, the total amount of additives used is less than 5% of the total formula, but in some cases it may be as high as 10% or more. Due to the relatively high value of the additives, the amount of additives used should be minimized when formulating.
